Ira Zoot Dimensions

Painted gesture, given depth.

Dimensions takes existing Ira Zoot paintings and reads them as built objects — carved relief, cast glass, fired enamel, brushed metal. Each work keeps the composition, colour and gesture of the original and asks what it would feel like as physical form: how light would catch a raised ridge, how a colour band would behave once it had thickness. The original paintings remain exactly as they are; these are additional works standing beside them.

Dimensional interpretation of Vortex XI: concentric magenta, yellow and cyan bands carved as stacked lacquer ridges spiralling toward a central point, raking light catching each crest.

Vortex XI — Dimensional

Layered lacquer relief · 2026

Every colour band of the spiral is lifted into its own carved ridge, stacked in shallow tiers that wind toward the centre. Polished lacquer surfaces throw hard highlights along each crest while the troughs hold deep shadow, so the turn of the gesture reads by light rather than by line.

Follows the exact rotation and palette of the original Vortex XI painting, translating its brushed bands into stepped physical depth.

Dimensional interpretation of So Here I: a radial burst of violet, red and magenta cast-glass wedges set in blackened steel and lit from behind.

So Here I — Dimensional

Backlit cast glass and steel · 2026

The radial burst is cut into wedges of coloured cast glass set in a blackened steel frame and lit from behind. Violet, red and magenta saturate where the glass is thickest and thin to near-white at the edges, and the seams of the armature become drawn lines through the composition.

Preserves the single radial gesture of the original So Here I, rebuilt as a lit panel so its colour is transmitted rather than painted.

Dimensional interpretation of Stroker Circo CDXIV: concentric glazed ceramic discs in yellow, orange and blue mounted at varying depths as a wall relief.

Stroker Circo CDXIV — Dimensional

Enamelled disc wall relief · 2026

The concentric painted rings become a field of glazed ceramic discs mounted at slightly different depths on a wall plane. Yellow, orange and blue glazes pool and craze where they meet the raised rims, and the shallow spacing between discs casts a soft grid of shadow across the surface.

Keeps the ring structure and colour order of the original Stroker Circo CDXIV, giving each ring a fired, physical edge.

Dimensional interpretation of Peacock IX: peacock plumage rendered in green and blue cloisonné enamel divided by raised gilded brass wire.

Peacock IX — Dimensional

Cloisonné enamel and gilded brass · 2026

Plumage pattern rendered as cloisonné: each posterised shape held inside a raised brass wire, filled with green and blue enamel and polished flush. The gilded partitions catch light as a fine linear network, so the bird's pattern is described by metal as much as by colour.

Retains the posterised pattern and palette of the original Peacock IX painting, resolved as enamel cells within gilded partitions.

Dimensional interpretation of Cobra ZZ III: a coiled serpent form in faceted magenta and cyan cast glass over a chromed core.

Cobra ZZ III — Dimensional

Faceted cast glass and chrome · 2026

The contour of the serpent is cut as faceted cast glass over a chromed core. Magenta and cyan refract through the facets and repeat as coloured bounce on the polished metal beneath, letting the single continuous line of the original read as a volume that turns in space.

Follows the contour and colour of the original Cobra ZZ III, giving its single line thickness, refraction and cast reflection.
