Vortex XI
The clearest statement of the series: a single spiral wound tight from the lower right, its bands of cyan, ultramarine, cadmium yellow, magenta and white ploughed one against the next until they close on a small green-blue eye just off centre. Every band carries the dragged, striated tooth of a heavily loaded knife, so the rotation reads as physical torque rather than pattern.

Behind the artwork
Vortex XI is the anchor of the series — the gesture stated once, whole, before the later works begin cutting into it.
