An African grey parrot turns its head to the light, the pale mask and banded chest feathers built from thousands of short posterised strokes in tin, dove and near-white. Behind him the ground is flattened into wide arcs of magenta, plum and deep aubergine that ring the head like a halo, with a soft brushed border left showing at the edges of the frame.
