Vortex XVII
Rows of small painted tiles bend along concentric arcs, drawing the whole surface into a slow rotation around a bright yellow well at the lower edge. Cadmium yellow, scarlet, violet and deep blue alternate square by square, and the dark mortar between them holds the curvature steady. Seen close the piece is a mosaic of individual strokes; at distance it becomes architecture — a vaulted interior turning on its own axis.

Behind the artwork
Where the earlier Vortex works spiral through gesture, this one spirals through structure: the grid itself is bent.
